After attending medical school at Michigan State University in East Lansing, he pursued specialty training and a four-year residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Later, he completed advanced subspecialty fellowship training in interventional spine and imaging at Diagnostic Conservative Medicine  in New Orleans, Louisiana.
